SETH HIGH

SETH HIGH
Seth first visited Japan in 1993 to take part in a high school exchange program. He enjoyed the onions (and people) of rural Gunma so much that he decided to return to Japan as a university student. While studying art and literature at universities on both sides of the Pacific, Seth came to be increasingly interested in applied linguistics and teaching theory. During this time, he noticed the important role that the English language and international education play in not only creating better global communication, but also in building stronger individuals. With this in mind, Seth worked as an instructor at Japanese public elementary and junior high schools from 1999 to 2005. He has since helped Educare develop its unique education philosophy and wide range of products and services. In addition to writing and directing Educarefs eSecret Englishf videos, he can often be found taking on challenging translation assignments, helping students prepare for overseas experiences, and studying methods to improve TOEFL scores. Seth also loves writing, traveling, listening to music, creating art works, and drinking deep-roasted coffee.

KYO

XU QINGHUA

Having studied in China, Japan and Korea, Mr. Xu has a great understanding of the issues facing Asia today. In addition to his amazing linguistic ability, he has brought Educare a profound knowledge of how business works in this quickly changing part of the world. Leading our Shanghai office, Mr. Xu has been providing educational support for individual students as well as helping Chinese universities and learning institutions build stronger relationships with schools around the world. Outside of the office, Mr. Xu enjoys taking walks and trying local cuisine.

HATTORI CHIEKO

HATTORI CHIEKO

Hattori-san is probably the most positive person on the Educare team (and we are all quite positive.) Her motto, gTomorrow is a new day,h has infected all of us. While attending graduate school in Boston, she realized that the act of studying abroad was not only making her a more international person, but also helping her to learn about her own Japanese culture. gLiving abroad forced me to look at both myself and Japan from a different perspective.h As a counselor, she has since spent the past 17 years helping hundreds of Japanese students realize their dreams of studying abroad. Recognizing that all students will not have a chance to study overseas, Hattori-san has also been working hard at Educare to create programs that will allow students to learn about themselves, their own culture, and the greater world without actually leaving Japan. Outside of the office, she enjoys attending plays, movies and her daughterfs dance recitals.

Ota

OTA KENICHI

Majoring in British and American literature at a Japanese university, Mr. Ota became quite interested in how languages are related to the cultures in which they are spoken. His desire to learn more about the world took him to England and later Australia, where he spent a year studying English while teaching Japanese to both Australian and international students. Upon his return to Japan, he quite naturally entered the field of international education, counseling students on all aspects of overseas study. At Educare, his amazing organizational skills have streamlined the office and deleted the word gstressh from our dictionaries. In his free time, Mr. Ota enjoys travel as well as international music and fashion.

JACOB

JACOB DAVIS

Since moving to Japan from Mobile, Alabama in 2002, Jacob has impressed thousands of students with his fun personality and unique yet effective teaching methods. If you look up the word gcreativeh in Wikipedia, there might even be a picture of Jacob. Having taught English at elementary and junior high schools in Chiba and Tokyo, Jacob understands the important role creativity and imagination plays in motivating students of foreign languages. Jacobfs background in art, English and music can be seen in Educarefs eSecret Englishf videos, which he co-writes and edits. He can also do some fancy things with a computer. When the dayfs work is done, Jacob is likely to be found relaxing at a Japanese bath, reading a book on philosophy, or making music.

ANNA

ANNA KIMURA

While studying environmental science at a Japanese university, Kimura-san had the opportunity to go on a research trip to China. Though only there for one week, she made new friends and discovered a country with a vibrant history and culture. In particular, she was impressed with the positive energy and friendliness of the people. Soon after her graduation, Kimura-san returned to China in order to spend a year studying the Chinese language in Beijing. Upon her return to Japan, Anna joined the Educare team with the objective of introducing more young people to Japan's dynamic neighbor. In her free time, Anna loves visiting pet shops, zoos, farms, and any other place where cute animals might be found.
Zhang

Zhang Fengyi

Ms. Zhang designs webpages, posters and brochures at our Shanghai office. Though she studied medical electronics at university, her creativity allowed her to quickly adjust to the education field . (see her handiwork
at www.ischool-cn.com) Studying both English and Japanese also keeps her quite busy. When Ms. Zhang does manage to find free time, she loves reading books and magazins and watching movies. She also enjoys traveling, but naturally wishes she had more time and money to do so.
